Jaipur is a tourist's delight. The city incurred its name, its foundations and its careful planning, to the great warrior - astronomer Maharaja Jai Singh II. Jaipur is known as Pink City as it was painted pink in honor of the visit of the Prince of Wales in 1876. The city also offers an endless variety of crafts and paintings. Few of the prime attractions of Jaipur are various forts and palaces such as Amer Palace; City Palace, the imposing gateway of the City Palace is guarded by stone elephants; Hawa Mahal, a multi-layered palace, with a profusion of windows and stone screens; Jai Garh; Jal Mahal, Jaipur's lake palace, surrounded with water and many others.

Jaipur also boasts of the oldest museum in the state, the Government Central Museum. The building, designed by Colonel Sir Swinton Jacob is located in the center of the sprawling Ram Niwas Bagh.
